WWII reenacting

Postby Gunslinger86 on Sat Jan 30, 2010 5:27 pm

I am already a member of a group that is trying to get our club started. We will basically be do local reenactments, along with static displays at various events. Our biggest goal is trying to allow something for everybody. So is anybody interested in possibly joining or discussing it?

Here's more info:

We are a club that has been slowly forming over the last few months. We are made up of long time reenactors, prior military, and people that have never done anything. We have not quite decided on a unit dessignator yet, but last time we talked we were thinking about going as the 16th Armor. We will have Jeeps, and a truck, and maybe a halftrack or weasel. We will have something for everyone. For the younger guys that can still run around in the woods, we will have an infantry attachment that will do most of the actual reenacting. This group of guys will be lead by me. We will also have some MP's,1919 machinge gunners, drivers, and HQ attachments for guys that can't quite run up and down hills anymore. We are even trying to get a mess section togethers so we can have are own hot chow during reenactments, instead of have to drive some to get something to eat.

Equipment: When it comes to equipment, every individual will be required to provide his own. However we will help, and lend you some equipment until you are able to get your own. For an idea on what we are going for equipment wise you can see everything on atthefront.com. Then of course you have your rifle, it must be period ie, M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, M1903, M3, Thompson, and the list goes on. So depending on what deals you can find I believe you could get fully equipped with rifle for around $1200-1400. Once again if you can't afford that out right we will do all we can to help you.

Event: We will be doing mainly local events, meaning event within 4-6 hour drive. These will include reenactment, and static displays for gun shows, Veteran day, Memorial day, and other similar events.

If you would like anymore info just let me know.

I'm interested in this, I used to play airsoft and it was a lot of fun just experiencing history when we played milsim to re-enact historic battles.
